As some of you may have noticed, the site has been performing more slowly than usual the last few days, culminating in several spotty outages today (April 27). We looked on the back-end and have concluded EF is under a DDoS attack, and have taken the precautions suggested by our host to help address it.
Right now, this means you might notice something like this when accessing EF:

@imperialjade - No, not your IP. Our Mods spent some time today playing whack-a-mole banning offending IPs, but these were page refreshes that were happening in the thousands. Leaving tabs open wouldn't have caused that. Hopefully we'll be able to scale back some of the security put in place, but since upping it earlier this afternoon, we haven't experienced the connection trouble we were earlier.

Is the fact that I can’t leave comments since yesterday connected to this?
oh man. was it my ip? i've started doing my yearly reread of maryperk's stories recently, and i tend to open additional tabs if the story is a series, which i now realize that i don't have to cuz she does previous and next titles. also, i keep one tab open with all the stories from an author i'm rereading and do a open in new tab on the story to be read so i don't close the author's story list. and then i also open a new tab to read all the current wips & new stories added.
